'Pimp Your Bio' - #Pitchwars 2017

So this year is my first year of doing Pitch Wars and since a few people seem to be doing this and mentors may or may not take a look... I thought it wouldn't hurt to give this a try.

About Me

My name is Rosina and I'm a 24-year-old from the UK. I graduated from uni a few years ago with a degree in Creative Writing.

I've been writing since my Dad introduced me to Word on the computer as a kid and I started writing short little stories based on clipart. They were only like two sentences each and I didn't start writing more until I started writing fanfiction at age 8 but they're all fun to look back on.

This is my first actual novel so maybe I shouldn't expect much for it but I absolutely adore the story and the characters. I need to try and do something with it because it's worth that. Until my degree, I was mostly writing fanfiction and I only stopped when I realised that I was writing things so AU that I was basically just borrowing characters and putting them in my own fantastical worlds. I love creating characters anyway so taking the next step to put my own worlds and characters together was the next logical step.

About My Novel

Dreams of Fire is a YA fantasy book about a 16-year-old girl called Katherine who dreams of getting out of her town and exploring her magic. On the way, she meets pirates, rebels and is surrounded by magic galore. Up until the point where one of her new friends messes things up and she becomes desperate to save them.

My book is diverse because, y'know, the real world is diverse and there are some important gay pairings mixed in. Because apparently, I can't write anything that doesn't have gay in...

This is me when it comes to gay pairings. I am complete trash

This book has one narrator and is in the first person but I have plans for a sequel with two narrators in as one of the characters in book 1 becomes very entwined in the story.

My Inspiration

One of the most important things you should never do is try and imagine one of your own ships whilst listening to a song that fits many of your other ships. You will be overloaded with feels and cry. Which is exactly what happened when I was listening to Halsey's 'Colors' the other day. Ooops...

From that, you can gather that I love angst and I'll add that most of my inspiration for angst comes from anime. I'm an otaku and all the manga I've read over the years has inspired me as well as all the fantasy books I've read.

There's only one scene where I can clearly pinpoint where my inspiration came from and that's a scene near the end that was inspired by Renee Adhieh's 'The Rose and the Dagger'. You'll see it if you ever read it ;).

Oh and I should add that I am completely obsessed with Persona 4 right now and since I'm adding some new scenes...do not be surprised if there's anything inspired by it in there.

That's it, that's all I have to say, so I'll leave you with a final Persona gif. Enjoy!
